The Extron CS 123T SpeedMount® Ceiling Speaker System is a patented low profile, plenum rated two-piece speaker system. It provides an extremely wide 165° conical dispersion for flexibility in speaker spacing. The system is designed for applications where high intelligibility and maximum coverage is desired in paging applications and low ceiling installations. The innovative system consists of the CS 120P plenum rated enclosure and a CS 3T full-range speaker cartridge. The enclosure installs quickly into 2' x 2' (61 cm x 61 cm) or 600 mm x 600 mm suspended ceilings. The speaker cartridge features a 3" (76 mm) full-range driver, and can be used in 70/100 volt or 8 ohm operation. The CS 123T is available as a complete assembly, or the CS 120P and CS 3T can be purchased separately to accommodate division-of-labor installations.
The unique, patented two-piece design of the SpeedMount Ceiling Speaker System greatly simplifies installation of ceiling speakers and saves costs, especially when a large quantity is needed for a facility. Instead of waiting until the final phase of installation, when ceiling access is limited, a low-voltage contractor can begin during rough-in by placing a CS 120P enclosure into the ceiling grid, and running speaker cable through it. This leaves the AV installer with a simple procedure of connecting the CS 3T speaker cartridge to the wiring and securing it into the enclosure.
1' x 2' Plenum Rated Enclosure
The CS 120P plenum rated enclosure features a shallow 4.9" (12.4 cm) profile, which simplifies installation into congested ceiling spaces around piping and ducts. The integrated tile bridge of the enclosure rests with the ceiling tile on the grid, evenly distributing the weight of the enclosure and the CS 3T. This avoids the need to assemble V-rails and C-rings, greatly reducing the number of installation steps and the chance of losing installation hardware. Additionally, the CS 120P is reinforced to minimize acoustical vibrations.
Compatible with US and International Ceiling Grids
The CS 120P features removable sizing tabs, which allow the enclosure to be placed into US-style 2' x 2' suspended ceilings. The tabs can be removed, allowing the CS 120P to be installed into metric 600 mm x 600 mm ceilings.
Full-Range Speaker Cartridge
The CS 3T speaker cartridge installs quickly and easily into the CS 120P enclosure. It delivers full-range audio reproduction, and a wide conical dispersion of 165 degrees for vocal clarity and broad coverage. The CS 3T is optimized for voice reproduction and paging applications. It features a power rating of 16 watts continuous pink noise and 32 watts continuous program capacity.
This speaker cartridge offers both direct 8 ohm or 70/100 volt operation with a behind-the-grille, six position power selector switch. For room balancing with 70/100 volt systems, the behind-the-grille power selector switch allows for 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1 watt settings in 70 volt operation, and 16, 8, 4, and 2 watt settings for 100 volt operation.
The CS 3T features a thin-edged bezel for a refined appearance on the ceiling. The grille attaches magnetically to the baffle and quickly snaps into place. The white grille and bezel can be painted to match the architectural elements of the environment.
