The Extron DA2 HD 8K AE is a high performance 8K/60 audio de‑embedder that extracts two-channel LPCM audio from the HDMI input signal and converts it to analog audio. Its analog output is configurable for stereo or dual‑mono signals. This HDCP 2.3‑compliant audio de‑embedder includes two HDMI outputs and supports data rates up to 40.1 Gbps, HDR, Deep Color up to 12‑bit, 3D, and HD lossless audio formats. It is equipped with integration-friendly capabilities such as input cable equalization and advanced EDID management. Extron EDID Minder® Plus delivers support for additional memory blocks needed for advanced display features. From presentation spaces to esports venues, the DA2 HD 8K AE is the ideal audio de‑embedder for HDMI source signals sent to two displays.
Streamlined Integration
To enhance and simplify integration, the DA2 HD 8K AE offers many integrator-friendly features beyond LPCM two-channel audio de‑embedding. Input cable equalization restores and reshapes incoming HDMI signals, compensating for weak source signals or signal loss from a long input cable and reducing the need for additional signal conditioning equipment. Color bit depth is automatically adjusted based on the display EDID, which prevents color compatibility conflicts between the source and the displays. EDID Minder Plus enables setting the video input EDID, capturing EDID from connected displays, and uploading custom EDID files. To reliably display and distribute 5K and 21:9 aspect ratio content, this Extron technology also supports additional memory blocks for displays that convey advanced features via both EDID and DisplayID. It facilitates proper management of the extended EDID information. Key Minder® ensures simultaneous distribution of HDCP-encrypted content.
The DA2 HD 8K AE features a configurable analog audio output that can be set for either two‑channel analog audio or dual‑mono. Original embedded audio is maintained on both HDMI outputs for system flexibility. These outputs can be individually muted, enabling content to be viewed on a local monitor before appearing on the main presentation display. Each HDMI output also provides +5 VDC, 250 mA for powering external peripheral devices, such as the Extron HD Pro Plenum Series of active, hybrid optical-copper cables for transmission of HDMI digital video and audio signals over longer cable runs.
Housed in a 1" (2.5 cm) high, quarter rack width metal enclosure, the DA2 HD 8K AE can be mounted in a rack or discreetly installed beneath a desk. It includes an external, universal power supply for worldwide power compatibility.

- Selectable output muting — Provides the capability to mute any combination of video, audio, and/or sync outputs at any time. This allows content to be viewed on a local monitor prior to appearing on the main presentation display.
- User-selectable HDCP authorization — Allows the unit to appear HDCP compliant or non‑HDCP compliant to the connected source, which is beneficial if the source automatically encrypts all content when connected to an HDCP-compliant device. Protected material is not passed in non‑HDCP mode.
- HDCP Visual Confirmation provides a green signal when encrypted content is sent to a non‑compliant display — When HDCP‑encrypted content is transmitted to a non‑HDCP compliant display, a full screen green signal is sent to the display for immediate visual confirmation that protected content cannot be viewed on that display.
