The Cisco Room Bar BYOD (“Bring Your Own Device”) version is a simplified configuration of the standard Room Bar, built for environments where users connect their own laptops to host meetings.
In this mode, the Room Bar serves as a USB-C peripheral — providing camera, microphones, and speakers — while the laptop runs the conferencing software (Webex, Teams, Zoom, etc.).
The hardware is identical to the full Room Bar model, but without the internal codec activation. It’s ideal for smaller rooms or organizations that want high-quality video and audio without investing in a full appliance-mode setup.
You can later upgrade the BYOD model to a full Room Bar appliance by registering it to Webex Control Hub and adding a Cisco Room Navigator touch controller.
